"FIREBALL" Roberts event
Apopka on September 6, 2008

I hope you have put the date on your calendar as you really won't want to miss all the activity.  The combination of race cars, some from the 50's, and the classic cars we have all come to know and love will make for an unbeatable combination for a car show.  "FIREBALL" was NASCAR'S first big time star and was named one of it's 50 greatest drivers during its golden anniversary in 1998.  One of his more noted wins was the 1962 Daytona 500.  For those of you who can't wait until Sept. 6 to see a "FIREBALL" race car, one of his 1956 Fords is on display through August at Mullinax Ford in Apopka.  The largest display of his memorabilia in the country is currently on display at the Museum of the Apopkans, and includes trophies, sponsor jackets, pictures, and posters.  Although this is a fund raiser for the Museum of the Apopkans, the general public will pay $10 each to attend the day's event, there is no registration fee for the cars participating in the show.  You will be a member of a history making event by bringing your classic car to this show, as this is the first show in which "FIREBALL"  Roberts is being memorialized in such a fashion.  I appreciate the many reservations that have already been made for the show and if you would like to let me know you are coming, please feel free to do so.  The "FIREBALL" committee is also seeking race cars, particularly from the 50's and 60's, or noted drivers from that era, so if you, or someone you know, fits that description, please let me know as well.  This should be an outstanding event and I look forward to seeing you there.  Until then, take care.  Lowell
